I walked into the gym, the sound of people talking and yelling, the echo of a basketball hitting the floor, the smell of waxed floors and popcorn engulfed me, and it took me back to another time…

“Come on Papa, we’re going to be late! All the good ones are going to be taken!” I exclaimed wanting nothing more than to have a gas pedal on my side of the car.

“Relax, we will get there just in time.” He said with a patient smile.

I just crossed my arms and sulked like thirteen year old girls tend to do when their irritated.

We finally made it to the gym and I jumped out of the car. “Come on let’s go!” I said excited as I grabbed Papa’s hand. I tried hurrying him up, but he was going to go at his own pace no matter what I did. We opened the doors and walked in. It was unreal; men and women were yelling and screaming at each other. My eyes got really big and I held Papa’s hand a little tighter as I looked up at him with confusion and a little fear.

“Why is everyone fighting?” I asked

“Because they all want the best one’s” He stated simply as he lead me to the check in table. An older woman was sitting there looking disgusted at the proceedings.

“Ah, Mr. Angel glad to see at least one adult showed up tonight.” She said and handed him a packet of paper work.
